We are seeking a highly experienced and dedicated senior Quality Manager to oversee and enhance our quality assurance and control processes. Based in the vital industrial hubs of the Vaal area and Saldanha, South Africa, this senior role is crucial for ensuring that all project deliverables meet the highest standards of quality, compliance, and client satisfaction. The successful candidate will be instrumental in upholding our reputation for quality and precision across complex engineering and construction initiatives.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Establish, implement, and maintain the Project Quality Management System (QMS) in strict alignment with ISO 9001 and specific client contract mandates.
- Develop, review, and approve comprehensive project Quality Plans, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and specialized Quality Control Procedures.
- Act as the primary authority and point of contact for all quality-related matters with clients, project directors, third-party inspection agencies (TPIAs), and regulatory bodies.
- Plan and execute systematic internal and external quality audits, evaluating the compliance of site teams, fabrication yards, and vendor facilities.
- Manage the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) process: identify root causes of quality failures, track systemic defects, and oversee the implementation of effective Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPA).
- Monitor and qualify vendor and subcontractor capabilities, ensuring material procurement meets engineering standards prior to site delivery.
- Supervise, mentor, and coordinate site-based Quality Control (QC) Inspectors across disciplines (Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Welding/NDT).
- Oversee the verification of critical construction processes, including concrete pour approvals, welding procedures qualifications (WPS), non-destructive testing (NDT) data review, and hydro-testing.
- Ensure the systematic compilation, indexing, and indexing of final Data Books and Manufacturer Data Records (MDR) for progressive handover to the client.
- Analyze quality performance data, identify defect trends, and report weekly/monthly Quality Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to the executive team.
- Drive regular quality awareness training and lessons-learned workshops to minimize rework and improve overall construction efficiency.
- Architect comprehensive quality management systems for construction projects.
- Lead the development of project-specific quality control plans and procedures.
- Design robust inspection and testing protocols across all construction phases.
- Oversee root cause analysis for non-conformances and corrective action implementation.
- Collaborate with project teams to integrate quality standards into construction schedules.
- Develop and deliver quality training programs for site personnel and subcontractors.
- Conduct regular quality audits of ongoing construction projects and supplier performance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives for construction processes and material quality.
